Comments

This piece represents an extended treatment of my old ballet “Jack Pudding” (1949). The drama is related, as before, to Molière’s “Georges Dandin” (the scenes were once intended to close each of the three acts, but they were never performed in this context). In 1992 I incorporated Neapolitan prose and songs, compiled for this purpose by the young Pulcinella actor Sergio Sivori.

The Henze Project

When the Ruhr region was chosen as the European Capital of Culture, its artistic director Steven Sloane immediately saw Hans Werner Henze as a musical focus, a world star with roots in the region and an oeuvre that encompasses all musical genres as well as a wide range of opportunities for children, young people and amateurs, and who could thus connect the entire region.
