A joint project of composers from both parts of Germany (GDR and FRG);
the premieres took place in Cologne and Leipzig at different times in 1966.
The complete work consists of 5 movements:
I Boris Blacher: Prologue (This is happening today)
II Rudolf Wagner-Régeny: Untitled (Will the voices be calling?)
III Karl Amadeus Hartmann: Ghetto (It will be reported)
IV Hans Werner Henze/Paul Dessau: Uprising (Oh soil don’t cover my blood)
V Paul Dessau: Epilogue (This is happening today)
