Julian Bream (1933-2020) made his debut as a classical guitarist at the age of 13. He played music from all eras and throughout his life was particularly committed to contemporary composers, premièring many of their works. RCA has released a collection of 28 CDs - CD 12 contains the Three Tentos with a recording from 1966, CD 14 the Royal Winter Music - First Sonata on Shakespeare's Figures, recorded in 1981/82. The 28-CD box was released in 1993 on the occasion of Bream's 60th birthday.
In 2013, these live recordings were released again, this time under the title "Julian Bream - The Complete Album Collection - Live" as a box set with 42 CDs.
