The Prince of Homburg in Frankfurt
enthusiastically celebrated by the premiere audience
The Managing Director of the Hans Werner Henze Foundation attended both the dress rehearsal and the premiere and was also enraptured by the performance. Jens Daniel Herzog's staging got to the heart of the work's intention, which puts love and sensitivity before duty and obedience and questions military attitudes in general.
Musically, too, the work was realized accurately and passionately; Tekeshi Moriuchi conducted the Frankfurt Museum Orchestra, and the solo parts were brilliantly and powerfully sung.
Prior to the performance, the managing director of the Hans Werner Henze Foundation gave an introduction to the piece in the neighboring Life Deli in the Jewish Museum for the Nuremberg State Theatre's support association, Opera Viva, which had travelled to the event in strong numbers.
