Hans Werner Henze

The CD contains a large part of Henze's works for solo piano. All those pieces reveal a lively relationship to traditional European and especially Austrian piano music, in particular to the piano music of Haydn and Mozart, Schubert and Beethoven, Bach and Stravinsky and, of course, the composers of the Second Viennese School.

The pianist Homero Francesch from Uruguay is considered a Henze expert who has played several world premieres of works by the composer, such as Tristan. Préludes for piano, tapes and orchestra in 1973.
