Biennale honors Henze

The Munich Biennale - International Festival for New Music Theater honors its founder Hans Werner Henze with two important concerts.

A first highlight will be the concert by the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra on May 10, at which two Munich premieres by Henze will be heard in addition to the Symphony No. 7: "Sebastian im Traum", Henze's instrumental interpretation of Georg Trakl's poem of the same name - the work was already scheduled for the 2008/09 season but was suspended at the time, and "Nebelheim und Sonnnenland", an orchestral suite from Henze's last opera "Gisela!"

The "German", profound Seventh thus creates an extremely contrasting musical arc - full of suspense and variety.
Markus Stenz, one of the most distinguished conductors and Henze connoisseurs, is on the podium.

On May 14, all five of Henze's string quartets will be heard in one evening for the first time. The Bavarian Academy and the Munich Biennale have also succeeded in attracting the five most renowned string quartets of our time - hearing the Auryn Quartett, the Diogenes Quartett, the Henschel Quartett, the Minute Quartett and the Vogler Quartett together on one evening is a unique opportunity.
