In collaboration with friends, the city of Marino and the El Cimarrón ensemble, three musical highlights were presented: On 1 July, his birthday, the ensemble performed three world premieres by Italian composers with different instrumentation, Stefano Taglietti, Francesco Antonioni and Luca Lombardi.
The setting was the magnificent Villa del Cardinale in Rocca di Papa, a palace dating from 1629, after which the guests were enchanted by a breathtaking sunset and the panoramic view across Lake Albano to the sea and northwards over Rome. This was followed by a gala dinner, where guests were spoilt by the team of Stefania Marzetti Albanese.
The following day, the pianist Christopher Tainton played three works for solo piano by the Jubilarian during a matinée at La Leprara and presented them with humour and expertise. In the evening, the ensemble gave a staged performance of El Cimarrón in the beautiful Renaissance courtyard of the former monastery Il Chiostro in Marino. Everyone interested in music in the city was invited to attend, as well as to enjoy a drink and snacks afterwards.
Even in his old age, the maestro enjoyed celebrating.
