World Premiere of Henze’s opus 1: Konzertmusik

The late premiere of Henze's first work, thought lost, takes place at Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie

Henze's oldest existing work, the "concert music" dating from the winter of 1943/44, will finally receive its 'real' world premiere in Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie on 7 December, after its cancelled premiere in Salzburg in April 2020, a radio production at the BR in December 2020 and a preview in Hambach in June 2021. The drafting of those involved for labour and military service in January 1944 had prevented a premiere at the time.

The ensemble Risonanze erranti with soloist Micaela Girardi plays under the direction of Peter Tilling. They perform the piece with dedication and, of course, technical perfection, and the audience is enthusiastic and grateful.
