Henze’s Library to Westfalia!

20.05.2021: Private library to Detmold! In the course of the sale of Henze's villa near Rome, his entire media stock: approx. 10,000 books, scores and sound recordings, was handed over to the library of the Musicology Department of the University of Paderborn/Detmold Academy of Music. In addition to the complete editions of the literature, the collection also includes music-historically relevant publications, works by authors and composers who were friends of his, numerous copies with dedications and particular items such as the complete edition of Lenin's works.
The donation was made in recognition of Prof. Antje Tumat's commitment to Henze research; she initiated the project "Henze digital - Hans Werner Henze's artistic network" at her institute, which will have an initial three-year funding period from the DFG.
