Symposium on the opera The English Cat in Hanover
The conference "Hans Werner Henze - Biography and Work", organised by Michael Zywietz at the University of the Arts Bremen on 1 July 2016 to mark the composer's 90th birthday, preceded the event in Hanover.
The symposium in Hanover is supported by the Hans Werner Henze Foundation.
At the end of the day, the participants and guests will attend the last performance of The English Cat at the Hanover State Opera. Michael Kerstan from the Hans Werner Henze Foundation will attend the conference and take part in a panel discussion that will later be published in an anthology. The other panellists are Mark Rohde, conductor of the opera, Klaus Angermann, chief dramaturge of the Hanover State Opera and the composer Detlev Glanert. The entire programme of the symposium can be found here.
The lectures from both events in Bremen 2016 and Hanover 2017 will be published in the anthology Genre. Gender. Song. New research perspectives on Hans Werner Henze's work.
